A native Californian, Alan Hoelzle is a seasoned photographer. He creates storytelling photos in his artful rendition of the modern style. He blends his unique imagination and experience to produce his evocative landscape photographs. Hoelzle left his college where he was studying philosophy to travel the world and learn more about photography. He traveled from Thailand to Turkey and from India to Israel. Along the way, he developed a passion to share visions and ideas through the art of photography.
Alan Hoelzle has been on a search for what he calls “spirit of place” and this has led him to create landscape images of California’s distinctive natural areas. He travels the country in his motor home taking photos of the best features. Alan’s photographs have been described as “eloquent compositions with magical light. They are distinguished by dreamy light effects, vivid colors, and a well defined mood.
He uses a 150-degree panoramic camera and medium format color negatives to produce his images. Alan uses natural light exclusively, avoiding lab manipulations or enhancements, because he wants all his images to look natural. That’s why he often waits for days or weeks for the perfect moment before taking a photograph.
His ability to shoot familiar settings in extraordinary conditions has produced a body of work that goes beyond the ordinary landscape scenes. Each of his photographs is individually printed to customs specifications and signed by him. Alan’s work is featured and displayed in selected galleries throughout the United States.
